Commissions are a big part of what I do, bringing your stories of the natural world to life and sparking those little moments of curiosity and discovery. I love listening to your experiences and turning them into displays that are completely unique and personal to you.
Over the years I have created collections for public and private clients all over the world. I have been lucky enough to design installations, window displays, collections for hotels and restaurants and images for publishing. I've also created more personal displays for private clients to mark a special occasion or as a reminder of an important place or event. I am happy to discuss commissions of any size, from a single favourite species to a frame filled with different kinds of flora and fauna.
THE COMMISSIONING PROCESS
Prices start at around £500 for a 30 x 30cm frame and increase depending on the size and complexity of the sculptures and display.
I usually ask a few questions to begin with to get an idea of the display you are looking for, including any particular species or themes you have in mind. I then go away and do some research and draw out some ideas for you to choose from. This is a really exciting part of the process as together we start to bring your ideas to life and create a display that really reflects your connection to the natural world.
Once you are happy with the overall design and a non-refundable deposit has been paid the making can begin. I start by sourcing the materials needed, then draw out templates and mock ups before moving on to building the final sculptures. Once the sculptures have been made I send photos to make sure you are happy with them before I mount them in their custom, hand built frame. If you would rather have the work framed yourself this is also an option that can be discussed during the initial planning stages.
A commission can take anything from 4 weeks to several months depending on the size and details put in. If you have a date you would like the piece to arrive by, this can be taken into account during the design process to make sure it arrives on time. Some times of the year are busier than others so its always best to get in contact in advance to make sure I have plenty of time to get the details right. When your display has been mounted and the final payment has been made your piece will be carefully packed and ready for posting.
