BESPOKE PAPER ART FOR INTERIORS
I love to create detailed paper artworks and collections designed in response to the character, history and atmosphere of a particular space.
From intimate residential settings to hotels, restaurants and public interiors, each project is developed to create a distinctive connection between art, place and the natural world.

DESIGNED FOR THE WAY A SPACE IS EXPERIENCED
Every interior has its own character, history and relationship with the people who use it. A commission can be developed as a single focal artwork, a collection of connected pieces or a larger installation, with the scale, composition and materials carefully considered in relation to the surrounding space.
Framed Collections

A series of paper sculptures developed around a shared theme, species or landscape. Collections can create a visual connection between different rooms or bring a consistent natural narrative through a larger interior.
Feature Artworks

A detailed, bespoke artwork designed to become a focal point within a particular room. The composition, scale and framing can be developed in response to the architecture, colour palette and atmosphere of the space.
Site-Responsive Collections

Artwork created specifically for its intended setting, taking inspiration from the surrounding landscape, local species, the history of a building or the story behind a wider interior project.
Botanical and Ecological Narratives

Collections that bring together plants, insects, birds, fungi or other natural forms to reveal the character and diversity of a particular place. These can reflect the landscape beyond the building or create new opportunities for discovery within the interior itself.
FEATURED CASE STUDY: Foraging at The Whitebrook
For the Whitebrook Restaurant in Monmouthshire, I created a collection of life-sized paper sculptures inspired by the plants foraged for and grown by the restaurant’s kitchen. The project brought together the surrounding landscape, the restaurant’s approach to food and the area’s history of paper making, with reclaimed paper and an old Ordnance Survey map of the local landscape incorporated into the sculptures. The resulting collection was designed specifically for the space, creating a visual connection between the restaurant, its surroundings and the stories of the place.

A COLLABORATIVE APPROACH
Every interior project begins with a different set of ideas, requirements and practical considerations. I enjoy working collaboratively with interior designers, architects, hospitality teams and private clients to create artwork that feels considered, distinctive and connected to the wider vision for a space.
You may already have a detailed brief, interior scheme or visual direction, or you may be looking for an artist to help develop an idea from the earliest stages. I can work from already developed plans while also researching the location, local species and stories that could give the artwork a deeper connection to its setting. I consider not only the artwork itself, but how it will be experienced within the finished space. Scale, proportions, lighting and the relationship between multiple pieces can all influence how a collection comes together.
Depending on the project, I can contribute to:
-
initial creative concepts and artwork proposals
-
research into species, landscapes and local histories
-
the development of themes and visual narratives
-
artwork layouts, scale and composition
-
material and framing recommendations
-
progress updates throughout the making process
-
delivery and installation planning
FROM CONCEPT TO INSTALLATION
1.
Project Brief and Site Context
We begin by discussing the space, the wider project and the ideas behind the commission. I will ask about the location, intended atmosphere, scale, timescale and any particular stories, species or themes you would like the artwork to reflect. Architectural drawings, interior schemes, photographs and visual references can all help to build an understanding of the project.
2.
Research and Creative Development
I explore the natural, cultural and historical context of the project, then use this research to develop ideas that connect the artwork with its intended setting. I consider the species, materials, composition and scale, as well as how the work will be experienced within the space.
3.
Proposal, Design and Quotation
I develop an initial proposal that brings together the creative direction, artwork layout and practical requirements. Once the overall approach has been agreed, I provide a detailed quotation and estimated timescale. A non-refundable deposit secures the project and allows the making process to begin.
4.
Making the Artwork
I source and prepare the materials before developing templates and mock-ups for the final sculptures. Each element is individually made by hand using reclaimed paper and a combination of cutting, carving, layering, painting and hand-stitching. I share progress photographs at key stages so that you and your project team can follow the work as it develops.
5.
Delivery and Installation
Once the artwork is complete, it is carefully prepared for its final setting. Depending on the nature and location of the project, this may include bespoke framing, coordinated delivery or installation planning. The practical requirements are discussed during the early stages so that the finished work can be delivered and installed as smoothly as possible.
PROJECT SCOPE AND INVESTMENT
Every interior commission is individually developed and priced according to the scale and complexity of the project. The final cost will depend on factors such as the number and detail of the sculptures, the size of the artwork, the level of research and design development required, framing or display specifications, and any delivery or installation requirements.
Smaller bespoke artworks and framed collections can be developed for individual rooms, while larger commissions may involve multiple pieces or a more extensive collection created in response to an entire interior. Once I understand the scope of the project, I can provide a tailored quotation and estimated timescale.
Project timescales vary according to the size and complexity of the commission. Smaller artworks may take several weeks to complete, while larger collections and site-responsive projects can require several months of research, design and making. If you are working towards a particular opening date or project deadline, please mention this in your initial enquiry so that it can be considered from the beginning.
When getting in touch, it is helpful to include any available information about the type of project, approximate dimensions, proposed completion date and budget range. You are also welcome to share floor plans, interior concepts, material palettes or visual references. These details will help me understand the project and explore the most appropriate creative approach.
