My Journal is where I share the stories, observations and ideas that shape my paper sculptures. Here you'll find glimpses behind the scenes of my studio, reflections on the places and plants that inspire my work, and the processes that transform sheets of recycled paper into intricate botanical sculptures.

Working with reclaimed materials, including old botanical books, maps and packaging, I'm interested in the quiet connections between people, nature and the objects we choose to discard. Through these journal entries, I share the inspiration behind my nature-inspired paper art, experiments with sustainable materials, and the journey from careful observation to finished sculptures, commissions and exhibitions.

Whether I'm exploring a new papermaking technique, documenting seasonal changes in the landscape or sharing the story behind a commissioned artwork, I hope these articles offer a deeper insight into both my creative process and the natural world that continues to inspire it.

Learning the Art of Japanese Papermaking at West Dean College

In May I spent three inspiring days at West Dean College learning the art of traditional Japanese papermaking. The course was taught by members of the Fujimori family from the renowned Awagami Factory in Tokushima, Japan. The family have dedicated generations to preserving the centuries-old craft of making handmade washi paper, and it was a privilege to learn directly from them. As someone whose work is crafted from paper, I have always been fascinated by the material itself.
