British Butterflies II | Recycled Paper, Wire and Thread | 28cm x 28cm x 4cm | 2023.
 
A life size study of two Butterflies commonly found in Britain. The Red Admiral and Peacock Butterflies can often be found in gardens and at woodland edges, laying their eggs on Nettles to protect them from preditors.
 
The butterflies wing are cut from recycled paper and their patterns and veins are hand embroidered before being attached to the body which is carved from a roll of paper and painted.
 
The frames are handmade for each display from solid wood and glass. This particular frame has been made from Ash wood and lightly oiled. It has a wire on the back so it is ready to hang from a hook in the wall.
 
In order to keep your piece looking its best, hang it away from direct sunlight and avoid areas where there is a lot of moisture such as in a bathroom.
